Cat of the Sand Vs. Polecat of the Steppe
A blue sky hangs from above, hard wind pushes sand across the desert. It was a hot summers day in the Arabian Desert, the hot sand barley fazing the Polecat of the Steppe. The Polecat of the Steppe got its name from the Steppe people who constantly moved locations finding new resources and places to live that would best benefit them. The Polecat of the Steppe do this same thing, though this particular Polecat of the Steppe had lost his way. The Polecat of the Steppe ran quickly to find another bush where he would have cover from predators. He made his way to a patch of grasses where he laid low to the ground trying his best to blend in. But, his dark fur made him visible, so he knows that he should continue to more hiding spaces. Then suddenly the bush near him moved and made a rustling noise. The Polecat knows he should scurry away, but his curiosity got the best of him. He slowly creeped further not seeing what was in front of him. What was waiting for him could either be prey or a predator.
The Polecat came to an opening where he sees a Cat of the Sand. Not knowing any better, he gets excited for a nice snack. The cute animal like cat sits in the sand barely noticeable. The Cat of the Sand has eyes that are big and only adding to his innocent nature. The Polecat of the Steppe prepared to jump and take his prey. 3-2-1 he began to run, using his front and back legs in a similar way making it look like a gallop. He pushed his paws into the sand while springing forward. He almost had the Cat of the Sand, then right before he tightened his jaw around the Cat of the Sand, the Cat of the Sand had run behind him. The Cat of the Sand no longer looked humble and week. He had his teeth bared and his back end of body swayed back and forth ready to pounce. The Polecat was now worried what he had gotten himself into.

The Cat of the Sand lunged upon the Polecat of the Steppe. The Polecat panicked from the impact, and opens his jaws to clamp down around the Cat of the Sand who yelped in pain. When the Polecat loosened his jaw a little bit the Cat of the Sand wriggles himself out of the position and began running across the desert in the direction of a palm tree. Since the Cat of the Sand can run 19 to 25 miles per hour you can only imagine how fast he got to the tree which is about a mile away. The Polecat was determined not to give up, and ran after the Cat of the Sand. The Polecat is fast, but not fast enough to catch up to the Cat of the Sand. The Polecat began losing momentum, but was able to make it to the palm tree.

At the palm tree the Cat of the Sand was nowhere to be seen. The Polecat began using his nose to search for the Cat of the Sand, but it seemed like the Cat of the Sand had disappeared. The Polecat decided that this area near the tree was a safe spot so he dug his nose in the ground looking for burrows. After some time he found a nice empty burrow and nestled into it preparing for his night sleep. The sun set above tinting it pink, orange, and red.

The noises of the night made the Polecat uneasy. As he stared out in front of him he started seeing small figures moving around with beady eyes that glowed in the dark. The small meows helped the Polecat understand that he was in the middle of a Cat of the Sand hideout. He looked over at the tree and saw the previous Cat of the Sand climbing down the tree with ease. The Polecat knew instantly that next time he shouldn’t mess with the Cats of the Sand. He dug deeper into the burrow hoping that the Cats of the Sand would not see him and think he would be a delicious snack.
