The Battle
A silky anteater is enjoying a nice sunny, midday nap high up on a small branch only strong enough to hold its own weight. Meanwhile, a clouded leopard is watching it's prey sleep from two branches below. The leopard is hanging upside down to remain unseen while the anteater is completely oblivious. The leopard has started its final sneaking up to the branch just below the anteater. The branch snaps unable to hold the weight of the leopard and he drops to the forest floor. The anteater is still passed out in the tree above as the leopard takes another attempt.
This time the leopard doesn't touch a single branch, using his extra large claws and even larger paws, he shimmies up the tree without a problem. The nocturnal anteater is still oblivious to the leopard. The leopard pounces on the anteater, startling it from its day-time sleep. The anteater uses its two front claws to wrap around the nearest branch as they are headed towards the ground below. It snatches a branch and uses its rear eight claws to fight off the leopard. The leopard large claws are stuck in the anteaters abdomen and ripping down the stomach under its own weight. The anteater screams and bashes the leopards face with its rear paws and scratches itself free. The leopard tumbles to the ground with deep cuts in its forehead and ears. The anteater starts its escape by climbing higher in the tree. Due to its severe injuries, it passes out from blood loss and falls right into the leopards paws. The leopard gets so scared it runs without even realizing his prey was dead and in his lap. The clouded leopard turned around to see what fell and to his delight, it was the anteater. The leopard returns to trees and enjoys a tasty snack. |
