Hungry Summer Night
The mother polar bear had not eaten in weeks and she had begun to feel her ribs dig into the packed ice when she slept at night. Her priority this day was to find food, if she didn't, she might not make it to the next morning.
She searched the snow with her piercing eyes, looking for anything that moved against the low laying arctic breeze. Her black nose blew small clouds of water vapor into the air in front of her. Suddenly, her head swings left as she hears a small squeak.

a lemming had been watching the polar bear from a small distance away and had accidentally let out a shriek as he fell off of his perch. The lemming quickly spun around and saw the polar pear start lumbering towards him, gaining speed.

The small creature let out a shriek before diving back towards his burrow. The shriek had cost him time however and would ultimately seal his fate as the polar bear was a moment too quick and snatched him out of the burrow with the very corner of her enormous tooth.
The polar bear was going to make it to the next morning.
