Light orange eyes glow from the dark burrow. The eight pound Sand Cat pops his head and leaps out. It is a quiet night in the desert. With an empty stomach, the Sand Cat roams the cool desert hoping to find food. Sand Cats are carnivores so in this case he is hoping to snatch a lizard. A couple hours pass and he finally spots something behind a boulder. Because the Sand Cats foot pads are covered with thick hair, he is able to swiftly sneak up on his prey. He pronounces on a twelve pound Grey fox. The Grey Fox is also nocturnal and has been seeking food. These foxes are omnivores so they have a greater variety of food to choose from. He lashes back and claws the Sand Cat in the face. They are both heated with anger now. The Sand Cats fur helps it camouflage into the sand so he uses this to his advantage. He also has highly sensitive ears that can hear noises from below the desert surface. The Grey fox has strong claws to dig a hole in the ground. He hides there. The Sand Cat hears it and leaps into the burrow that the Grey Fox dug and claws and bites it to death. With a satisfied stomach, he returns back to his burrow to sleep.
